Set in a parallel universe, in RayStorm, Earth and humanity have prospered enough to expand space colonies as far as the Orion Arm. To maintain security, Earth imposes martial law, but a federation of colonies led by the colony of Secilia defeats the Earth government and plans to destroy the planet and wipe out all its inhabitants. To prevent this, Earth sends a secretly developed fighter plane, called the R-Gray, in hopes of piercing the Secilian atmosphere and destroying Secilia's base of operations, Juda's central system.
RayCrisis is set in a cyberspace environment and was a stylistic departure from the rest of the series. In RayCrisis, the events in which the supercomputer called Con-Human gained consciousness and rebelled against its human creators are described. As the Earth is demolished to be rebuilt as Con-Human's new corporeal form, a mecha-neurologist launches a desperate attack to break into the supercomputer's virtual core and put an end to its madness. It's up to you to pilot the Waveriders viruses and stop the malicious AI from continuing to wreak havoc; though it may be too late, you must ensure that no more lives are lost in the real world by stopping Con-Human in the digital world.
